Producing Artistic Director

The Iowa Arts Gallery is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing educational resources to the arts community, including students. These educational resources include a forum for discussion, critique and review of exhibits and movements, exhibit venue, and other competitive features and environments for artistic expression and exhibition.

Environments may also be purchased or leased, designed and created, to duplicate existing venues or to provide any kind of unique space. Exhibits may also be released on DVD or CD for educational institutions. For more information, email lsherer@iowaartsgallery.com.

If you are aware of special events, exhibits, and other related activities, we'd like to know about it. We'll have a chance to write a review and post information for others who may be interested. We're also interested in websites and internet related activities, so let us know about those, too.

Our exhibits use computer modeled and linked spherical panoramic images and a java applet for viewing over the internet. We think the value of seeing a painting in some context, with a sense of scale is an important feature for any audience. In addition to ptviewer, we also use zoomify to provide for close examination. Both ptviewer and zoomify should not require updating to work in your browser. In some cases you may need to accept the use of active x programs or pop-ups. Please let us know of any technical difficulties you may encounter if you are unable to view the exhibits.

Style information for writers:
We're interested in solid content, thoughtful pieces about the arts, creative processes, people, activities, events. Critical reviews of any artistic endeavor need to be framed positively, encouraging and forward thinking, but also serious and specific. Limit generalizations and relate to particular movements or market trends. Reviews need not be critical, but should be informative. Pictures are always welcome and please include the name of the photographer and if necessary a limited copyright release so that we may post them and give proper credit. At some point we will pay for essays and articles, but for now you may only hope. If you're still interested please contact S. Richard (Dick) Shook dick@dickshook.com for more information or to make a proposal.
